THIS WEEK
WE ARE ENCOURAGING FOLKS
TO READ IN THE NEW TESTAMENT
FOR 15 MINUTES A DAY
I decided to dive into Galatians - a letter from St Paul to a church that he founded, but who later decided to listen to some other "gospel" shared by some troublemakers who seemed to be encouraging them to follow Jewish practices like circumcision. The idea that gentile Christians have to be Jewish in that they follow Jewish practices really really gets Paul's goat. He accuses them of being "bewitched." I love the ending where Paul remarks to them how large the letters are that he makes as he signs his name (a scribe typically would have written the rest of the letter dictated by Paul).
I have decided to read the entire letter every day this week in order to think on it more - a lot of discussion on our freedom in Christ dwells within its 6 chapters.
I also hope that more of you choose to post on what you are reading this week. If you are having problems figuring out how please let me know. You can "post on what you are reading
or "comment" on what others have posted.
