DAVID the Ultimate Enabler

So, I'm in 2nd Samuel and am beginning to have this uneasy feeling that King David is the ultimate enabler of horrible behavior in his children.
Yes, David. The slayer of Goliath; the good King. Beloved of God.
His oldest son rapes his half sister Tamar and David ignores it because "he loved him, for he was his first born." Another son, the brother of Tamar, kills Amnon in revenge (since it was Amnon who had raped his sister Tamar), and flees. David years for Absalom "for he was now consoled over the death of Amnon." Wow. OK. How pargmatic of him.

David allows him back into Jerusalem then promptly refuses to see him for two years (It wasn't that big of a city mind you). Then Absalom proceeds to suck up to everyone in the city, kissing their hands, dealing with their problems, honoring them so that they honored him (instead of his father). David either is completely ignorant of this (unlikely) or ignores it . Small wonder that Absalom then starts a revolution to overthrow his father, the king, dfiguring that the people will be more loyal to him than David.

Now this is a reality show!
