Gotta love Mark 16:1-8.
The empty tomb.
The man dressed in white.
Frightened women bearing the good news.
And good news kept quiet:
"And they said nothing to anyone because they were afraid."
The earliest and most reliable manuscripts end Mark's Gospel at 16:8.
It bugged people so much that there were numerous other endings found in later manuscripts.
Was the true ending lost?
Are we left finishing the story in our minds:
Well, the women must have spoken eventually or we would not have know what happened - they simply overcame their fear - how could the good news not overcome their fear?
Or did others visit the tomb and see what happened and remembered Jesus' words?
Mark 16:1-8 contains no resurrection appearances of Jesus - are we to observe the empty tomb and hear the proclamation of the resurrection from the man in white and believe - as an act of faith? Would an appearance by Jesus take that away from us?
Ah, the questions!
